5 healthy plans for rainy days

Rainy days aren’t for everyone’s taste. Some enjoy them, but the majority could potentially feel down on those long, dark, gloomy days. There are, however, many things that can be done during rainy periods. Indulging in your hobbies or finding new ones, curl up with a good book, browse the internet, and many more. We’re decided to focus on 5 health plans for rainy days.

Meditation

Meditation can be amazing for a great number of reasons. With it, we can lower our stress levels, improve our mood, become healthier, improve our focus, and many more. Anyone can get into it, and most importantly, it’s completely free. There’s no need for paid subscriptions or extra gear, it can all be done from the comfort of your home. It can help decrease the anxiety life can bring at any time. It has been practiced for thousands of years for a reason. Meditation can produce a state of deep relaxation and tranquility which is great for rainy days. Its main goal is to focus our attention and eliminate random thoughts which keep endlessly appearing in our minds, thus causing stress. It’s beneficial for both our physical and mental health.

Starting in meditation can be a rough ordeal, as we generally have no control over our stream of thoughts scrambling all over the place. There are ways to practice this, however, and what’s a better time than when it’s pouring rain outside. The key is to find a nice, quiet, comfortable spot, close our eyes and start focusing solely on our breathing. It might help to set a timer to 5-10 minutes in the beginning. As soon as you feel you’re not in control of your thoughts anymore, i.e. when you start losing focus on your breathing, it’s time to redirect those thoughts back. It will be hard to stop our brain chatter at first, but it’s an invaluable asset once you master it.

Physical exercise

Physical exercise is a must if you want to lead a healthy life. Just because it’s raining doesn’t mean you’re not able to work out. You don’t have to get wet by going to your gym, you can do tons of activities from the safety of your home. Having extra equipment helps, but it’s not at all necessary. You can have a great workout by yourself without any extra tools. Sit-ups, crunches, planks, squats, lunges, squat jumps, high knees, push-ups, dips, etc, are just a fraction of what can be done at home!

Mental exercise

Physical exercise is great and shouldn’t be ignored, but what also can’t be ignored is mental exercise. It can come in a variety of forms, through crosswords, puzzles, even video games. Try learning new things, acquire new skills, begin to learn a new language, anything that could be useful to you. Not only do these exercises help with our mental health, they also make us feel productive!

Cooking

Is there anything you’ve ever wanted to try and cook but just don’t have the time? There’s always something to do, the outside world is chock full of activities, but that all changes once it starts raining. Unless it’s something absolutely vital, you won’t go outside that day, meaning you’ll be able to spend time cooking that particular dish you’ve always wanted to try. Use rainy days as a way to master new recipes and techniques. It doesn’t have to be just one meal though, you can prepare your food schedule for the entire week. If you prepare your meals while it’s raining, you’ll have more time to do outside activities while it’s sunny! And hey, after cooking, you can always get refreshed with the Pink Elephant juice!

Book reading

Book reading is still as relevant as ever, even if it’s done via an electronic way. It doesn’t matter if you read a paper book, or read it on your electronic devices. Books are just a great way to get to know yourself, set your goals, and figure out how to achieve them, or just pass time with fun, action-packed, romantic, or any other stories you like. Curling up with a book in a warm, cozy spot while it’s raining outside might be one of the most tranquil and amazing feelings there is.
